AWARD CATEGORIES

 

Martin/Solomon Community Service Award:

Given annually to a member in appreciation of exemplary service to individuals and/or the community at large. The recipient of this award is an individual who devotes time, talent, and resources for the benefit of others yet displays strong ethical and moral characteristics. This award represents the individual’s ability to encourage young people to participate in community service activities while exploring their future educational goals. An award that is named after the founders of the Black Women’s Caucus is expected to maintain the same faithfulness and promise to women as our founders. Martin/Solomon represents the supreme tribute bestowed upon a member of the Black women community.

 

Trailblazer Award:

Recognition of an individual who has blazed trails in employment and voluntary avenues for others to aspire to and follow, exhibits persistence and determination in all endeavors to improve community services, renders service that has influenced lives and brought about effective change in individuals and/or the community, and displays strong moral characteristics.

 

Youth Achievement Award:

Recognition of an individual who has voluntarily contributed outstanding community service, serves as a role model to other young people, and exhibits strong moral characteristics.

 

Citizen of the Year Award:

Recognition of an individual who renders outstanding service and dedication to improving the quality of life for humanity, gives service to the community above and beyond employment responsibilities, renders service that has influenced lives and brought about effective change in individuals and/or the community, and exhibits persistence and determination in all endeavors to improve community service.

 

Political Achievement Award:

Recognition of an individual who practices principles of ethics and demonstrates a high degree of integrity, renders service that has influenced lives and brought about effective change in the community above and beyond their sworn responsibility, displays strong moral character, and resides within Mecklenburg County.

 

Education Achievement Award:

Recognition of an individual who inspires and provides awareness of educational opportunities for students, renders service that has influenced lives and brought about effective change in individuals above and beyond employment responsibilities, and displays strong moral character.
